Sunrise 2020 Scholarship Opportunity
Dec 19, 2019
Sunrise Cooperative, Inc. is announcing the renewal of the annual Sunrise Cooperative college scholarships. This year the Sunrise Cooperative Board of Directors once again decided to offer forty $1,000 scholarships for common stockholder’s children and grandchildren and ten $1,000 scholarships for employee’s children and grandchildren. All students who apply must be a child or grandchild of a commonstock holder or employee as well as enrolled in a two or four-year college program. Over the past ten years, Sunrise has awarded more than $250,000 in scholarships and is excited to continue the program this year.
Applicants are required to compete in a scholarship essay contest, writing a minimum of one page on the topic of agriculture. Although the essay topic is agriculture focused, the contest is open to students of any degree so long as they or a family member (parent or grandparent) is a member or employee of Sunrise Cooperative.
Terra State Community College in Fremont will review the written entries and narrowed them down. Each finalist will be invited to an oral interview to discuss his or her interest in agriculture and future education plans. From these interviews 40 students will be chosen for the common stockholder scholarships, and 10 will be selected for the employee scholarship.
Previous winners and applicants may apply each year they are eligible. All monies awarded will be made payable to the winner’s respective school. Scholarships are eligible for all incoming freshmen, sophomore, junior and senior students. The selection process will occur in March and winners will be announced by the end of April.
All interested applicants must complete the information requested and submit by the end of the business day on February 7th.
The application is available to be submitted online, or you may download, print, complete and return the application to:
